Rebecca Dhakal's Testimony
Rebecca Dhakal, Founder and One of Executive Director of Arise and Shine Foundation, has dedicated her life to serving vulnerable women and children through faith, compassion, and practical action.
Before establishing Arise and Shine Foundation in Pattaya, Thailand, Rebecca faithfully served for 23 years at Gentle Heart Foundation in Nepal, where she worked extensively among vulnerable women and children. During those years, she gained valuable experience in community development, child protection, women's empowerment, education, and ministry. Her passion has always been to see broken lives restored through the love of Christ.
Rebecca first visited Pattaya and was deeply moved by what she witnessed. Seeing the struggles of vulnerable women and children in the city caused her heart to break. As she walked through Pattaya, she could not forget the people she had encountered. Even after returning home, the burden remained in her heart, leading her into a season of prayer and seeking God's direction.
During this time, Rebecca sensed God's clear calling to leave her comfort zone and move to Pattaya to begin a new ministry. Together with her husband, she stepped out in faith, trusting that God would provide and guide every step. They dedicated their lives to serving and supporting children and vulnerable families, believing that every child deserves love, education, protection, and hope.
As they prayed for God's vision, the Lord spoke through Isaiah 60:1–2:
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you."
This Scripture became the foundation and inspiration for the ministry. Believing God's promise and timing, Rebecca and her husband established Arise and Shine Foundation with a mission to bring light into places of darkness by serving vulnerable women and children with the love of Christ.
Today, Arise and Shine Foundation continues to provide education, care, discipleship, life-skills training, community support, and hope to children and families in need. Rebecca's testimony is a reminder that when God calls, faith and obedience can transform lives and communities for His glory.
